On my installation, an audio glitch in the Musescore 4 nightly builds makes playback practically impossible

• Jul 17, 2022 - 22:07

For starters, audio is very distorted and tremendously slowed down (see linked video at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wn2B3krp4zRKomu0yr60ril2Na_jcCG6/view?… and pay attention to the playback time — it takes over a second in real time to see the time increment by even a tenth of a second). Secondly, I don't have the option to choose an input audio device like Windows DirectSound, MME, or WASAPI if I go to preferences (see picture below). How do I fix this? I'm assuming it's something on my end given how I didn't see any other complaints about this. I already tried restarting the computer, but that didn't make a difference.

In case it helps, my computer uses Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) and has an Intel i7 processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super graphics card, 32 GB of memory, and an SSD.

Not entirely, I'm having this problem on a computer that's almost as powerful as OP's. The problem doesn't crop up in quiet sections of a wind ensemble playback, but anything louder than mp or more than about 8 instruments causes a similar distortion, and even then, I can still tell the audio engine is having troubles. I also have troubles scrolling left and right through parts with the left/right arrows, and I think its that the program is trying to play all those notes and can't process that amount of information that fast. All my audio drivers are up to date and there's nothing else that's possibly interfering with it, and I can export an MP3 and get perfectly good audio playback, so I have no idea what could be causing this other than my computer being 5 years old, but that shouldn't be causing any problems anyway.
