0 byte file

• Apr 2, 2023 - 11:40

Hi all,

I was composing on My Musescore 4.0.2 when I placed a note and the score crashed. Both the file and the backup have corrupted and display 0 bytes.

I checked my Windows storage and it was 0 bytes left in storage as well. I have checked the forum for help to no avail

Any ideas on how to recover the corrupted file?

I have also attached the file,

Alric

If your file manager also shows 0 bytes, the file is irreparably damaged.
The only hope: if you can find another backup copy with the file manager.

... you can try searching your disk both for normal score files (.mscz suffix) and for backup score files (.mscz, suffix - note the trailing comma on the suffix).

To use a backup file, you have to rename the file by removing the leading period (full stop) and removing the trailing comma. Then the renamed file should open normally in MuseScore.

You said, "I checked my Windows storage and it was 0 bytes left in storage as well." Has your hard drive -> run out of space <- ?? If this is the case, it remains unfortunate you'll probably not resurrect the score of concern. But let us know what amount of free space your HD has...
