Cannot read file Nizamski Rastanak.mscz
This file was created 08/20/22 in MS 3.5 and is about 4KB. Can this file be easily fixed? MS 4 also will not open it but gives the option to ignore the error which also does not work. There is no backup file. I am curious to know what the error is. I have no idea of the format in which MS stores these compressed files.

Here is the file
Compressed files are saved in zip format. If the zip structure is not corrupted, you can open the mscz files with 7-zip, for example. Inside you will find a file with the extension mscx. This is the uncompressed score and can be opened by MuS 3 or MuS 4.
I made it and saved it with version 3.6.2.
By the way: the volta does not work. The 'repeat list' property says only 99, but it should be a long list containing '1,2,3,4 ... 99' if the repeats should be made 99 times. And also the 'Play count' property of measure 43 should not be '2' but '100'. And there must be a second volta with repeat list value 100.

To avoid having to write this long repeat list, you can use the D.C. al Coda, To Coda and a Coda sign as shown in Nizanski Rastanak_2.mscz; now with 99 repeats and no volta. I have not tested it completely :-).

Thank you for your insight into this problem and fixing the file. The repeat at the end of the file was my lazy way of saying we play the tune twice.
I did do some reading about this error and tried changing the extension to .zip but winrar gave me the error message that Nizamski.zip archive is either unknown or damaged. I tried using winrar again this morning and "unexpected end of archive" but did open the file.
If this zip extension fix did not work is there a way to examine the file with a hex editor to for example add an end of file character? Or is there a way to tell MS to open it with the "error" at least?

Twice? Then why is there the number "99" in the volta?
To specify only one repetition, simply place the standard volta 1 from the palette on measures 42 and 43, and a volta 2 on measure 44.

Regarding unzipping: I used 7-zip and it opens the file without error message.
In a MuS 3 mscz there is usually also a folder 'Thumbnails' which is missing in your file. Maybe that is the cause of the error message with Winrar. Maybe Winrar is a bit more sensitive than 7-zip. Who knows.
Sometimes header errors appeared, but since there are usually several files in a zip archive: if you are lucky, it is one of the unused other files affected. Probably Winrar found a pointer to the Thumbnails folder and could not find the data. They are not necessary for the music either.
I don't think it's easy to edit a zip file unless you really know all the details of the zip process and file structure. I certainly can't!

Thanks again for your help. Winrar would open the file but could not extract the mscx part because of a file corrupt error. I downloaded and installed 7-zip which opened the file and was able to extract it as you did. I have no idea where 99 comes from. There was only a single repeat (no volta) in the last bar of the original. The 99 volta "error" comes up a lot when I use Audiveris to convert a pdf to an xml file.
I opened the corrupt file in notepad and noticed there was no thumbnail jpeg.

I was also able to extract it and open the file in version 4.1.1. I would say to use the file that HildeK provided that fixed the repeat problem. There are a few other oddities however. No barlines on the left side of the first measures of each staff, the letter N above the B7 chord measure 11 seems to be attached to the title box, and the letter H and the [1 on page two are attached to the box at the end.

Interesting that 7-zip is more successful than other tools.
Since I didn't know the original sheet before: just delete the volta and the last two measures!
Those extra letters mentioned by 'garytemp' are artifacts probably caused by the not perfect OMR. Select them and delete them. The only remaining problem is the chord name (E7min9) in measure 8. There is none there in the original. So delete it too. It's unclear why this was written in the first place.
@garytemp: The barlines on the left side of each staff can be set under 'Format/Style/Barlines/' if you check the 'Barline at start of single staff' box. But also the original has no barline there, so why do you miss them?

I only mentioned the extra letters as something to clean up. As for the bar lines, the “original” shows it to be hole punched. I assumed it was possibly actually a photocopy of the true original which had cut off the bar lines and then been scanned. It is not a problem, just something that I thought might make for a cleaner looking final output.

I appreciate the help from the forum support. I primarily use MS3.6 to format the score to maximize the layout to fit on one page with the largest note size. I have not moved over to MS4. Is there a better pdf music scanner (OMR) than Audiveris 5.3.1. It is not easy to fix the scan errors (pink bars) using the Audiveris User interface.

Yes, there are a bunch, some free, some paid. While I previously bought Photoscore and it mostly works OK, I am disappointed that there have not been continual updates. I haven't personally tried any others to compare.
