Behavior of rests
I'm working on my second score, and I'm finding the behavior of automatic rest insertion very frustrating. I'm unable to delete rests, and if I try to move one around, it pushes following notes into crazy new patterns. I feel like there must be some trick I'm missing.
Example measure:
- 16th rest
- half note
- 8th note
- 8th note
- 8th note
- 16th note
I want this to be
- half note
- four 8th notes
But I cannot delete the 16th rest or change the 16th note to an 8th note. If I try to move the 16th rest, it screws up the following measures, changing their beats and doing all kind of nonsense.
Any ideas? Thank you!

You don't have to delete the rests, just enter the desired notes.
Don't try to "move" rests around...
In your example measure, if you want to have your series of 5 notes to start on that 16th rest (on beat 1), select the 5 notes then cut and paste them onto that 16th rest. This will leave the last 16th note followed by a 16th rest. Click the 16th note and press 4 to turn it into an eighth note (which will subsume the 16th rest). You'll then be left with your desired half note followed by four eighth notes:
