fingerings for Piano

• Oct 14, 2024 - 23:48

I have been looking for a long time for a program that can automatically create fingerings for piano playing.

"Piano Player" should be able to do this

https://github.com/marcomusy/pianoplayer

This program works together with musicscore and sets the fingerings above it. It is just very difficult to get the program to work.
Can anyone help me?

Is it possible to integrate this program permanently into MuseScore

I hope you understand what I mean.

Thank you very much
Frank

I visited the site you are referring to and from the screenshots it seems that the software can only help in very simple cases. How do you work with polyphony? I think it is better to look for a solution with plugins that allow you to insert a fingering with direct user intervention. The AI is still extremely stupid. That's the only advice I can give you.

@ILPEPITO
thank you very much for your answer and for taking the trouble to look at this.

I have only found two programs on the internet that create fingerings for the piano.

The other company is called
ultra-music-practice

https://www.ultra-music-practice.com/
You can test it there for free, but I have not yet received an answer by e-mail after x attempts.

What do you mean by polyphony?
Chords and fingerings for chords?
Both programs do that.

In fact, I once had the above program running and was able to test it, but unfortunately I can no longer get it to work.

Do you have any idea where I can find such a program or plugin for fingering?

Thank you very much,
Frank

I believe that what @IlPepito was trying to say is that "there ain't no sech animal". AI just isn't smart enough to be able to figure out the best (or even the worst) way to finger a piano piece. That's something that can best be done by HumanBrain 1.0. IlPepito was recommending finding a way to simplify adding them, after you have figured them out.

Yes, in my opinion AI means Absolutely Idiot. I have created a rather complex fingering plugin (for now, however, I am not willing to share it), but the complexity is in managing the placement of the 'symbol' in relation to the position of the note. But I decide which finger to use, not the plugin. As TheHutch says, HumanBrain 1.0 is still the best there is. Anyway, try looking here: https://musescore.org/en/node/142436

@Ilpepit
I'm looking forward to you releasing the fingering plugin.
If I understand it correctly, it's a placement tool for fingerings.

But then what is humanBrain 1.0?
When I type it into Google with the addition fingerring, I can't find anything.
Is there a link where I can find out more about it?

Many thanks in advance,
Frank

*LOL*

By "HumanBrain 1.0", I mean the original computer: your brain, connected to your eyes and ears and fingers. Artificial Intelligence is "artificial", yes, but it isn't very "intelligent".

If you look closely at different editions of the same piano piece, you'll often find that even different editors find different fingering. How do you expect a computer to find what's best for YOU? Deciding on the best fingering is something that you will have to figure out yourself.

Oh, then they had something to laugh about. :-)
I didn't understand the joke because my English isn't very good.

I don't know if a computer program can do that, but I would like to test it and use it to help.

I find it particularly difficult with rock and pop songs because there are a lot of chords in the right hand.
And I find it difficult to change from chord to chord, because you can't leave a single fingering.

Thank you very much
