Vst?
I was just wondering, will MuseScore ever have a builted in vsthost? I have tried using Jack and LoopBe1, but I don't know or understand how to use them at all. Does anyone know how to use them together? I know this is possible.
Thanx.

You need a recent version of MuseScore, preferably a nightly.
Then in Edit->Preferences->I/O you need to select Jack Midi and stop MuseScore.
Run Jack and your jack ui
Run MuseScore.
Run a VSThost and load plugin in it
In your Jack Ui, you should see Mscore in the midi tab. Do the connection from Mscore to loopbe1.
Press play in MuseScore, the sound is rendered throught Jack Midi then goes to loopbe1 -> VSTHost -> VST.

Adding VSTi support to MuseScore has been discussed on the forum several times. There are a couple of problems..
First VST is not free and the SDK is protected by Steinberg. Then, VST is not portable and not available on Linux. So open source projects have solved this issue but not MuseScore yet.

I still don't understand, but thank you for replying.

Would it be possible to add DSSI support to MuseScore instead? That seems to be the open source community's answer to VST and there is even a DSSI wrapper for existing VST intstruments.
