subgroup beaming

I need to be able to connect subgroups of beamed notes with one single beam (see picture). (I searched the forums, and the question was raised in 11/2009 with respect to 0.9.5. The answer was that it wasn't implemented yet.)

I realize this feature perhaps reflects more of a cosmetic need than a musical one, but it's a uniquely effective tool for making clear the relationship of subordinate groups to a longer note value.

Good graphical representation is what it's all about! I was just wondering about the present status of subgroup beaming (and if anybody else is frustrated by its absence in this excellent product).
