Extra Lines in Drum Notation
Hello,
I'm trying to enter bass drum notation into a 3-line drum staff. No matter what I do, there is an extra line above the note head (see attached)
Anyone know how to get rid of this? Can't set invisible...
Thanks!

It's always better to post the actual score than just a picture of it; it's hard to know what might be happening otherwise. Seems like maybe you are trying to use a drum set definition designed for 1.3 on a score created in 2.0?

Hi Marc!
I'm trying to combine the two single-line untuned percussion parts into the one, 3-lined part.
Around measure 10 you can see what the bass drum is doing in the 3-line part. I played around with drumset editing, but can't find a solution. The way it is now it looks like all the notes have a legato line above them...
This is all in 2.0, although it was originally written in 1.3. Even if I input the notes new from scratch, the same thing happens.
Want the bass drum to be in the middle of the bottom line. When I edited the drumset so the note heads were in the middle of the bottom line, the (staff?) line above the note head is still there.
Any cure?
Thanks!

Yes, then this is a case of an incompatible drum set definition. The way drum sets are defined has changed between 1.3 and 2.0, and unfortunately this means that certain 1.3 scores that use three-line drums staves won't work correctly. See #19197: Non-5-line drumset stave lines incorrectly positioned for background and more information.
Unfortunately the bottom line is I don't have a good solution to offer for now except to suggest you convert this to a five-line staff (right click, Staff Properties, change number of lines to 5 and line spacing to 1). Maybe someone else who deals with three-line drums staves more often has other suggestions?
FWIW, the line you see is a ledger line. Your drum set definition specifies that the bass drum should appear on line "7", which in the new numbering scheme for 2.0 is the space below one ledger line below the staff. The code that handles this doesn't deal properly with the double spacing of the staff lines, which is why neither the ledger line nor the note actually *appear* below the staff.
There are similar issues for 2-line staves. Somehow we need to figure out a good solution for 2-line and 3-line staves, particularly with respect to the double spacing that some use with these. For now, though, I recommend not using them.

Thanks, changed it to 5-line staff. Not ideal, but hopefully no one will notice or care...
Thanks again!

More problems:
Now every drum note is on the same line, and the drum pallet has only two options for notes, both hi hats.
What were bass drum notes are now on the top line, they still sound like bass drum when clicked, but are on the wrong line, can't move them.
When I try to re-enter from scratch, I can only choose hi hat.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

I added a new 5-line staff and deleted the old one, so it's ok now, but hopefully this'll help fix things for the future...
Also, this particular file is acting weird, the way the old version of MS did when it would crash a lot. I copy-pasted into another file, and it's behaving the same way. Other files I have open are acting normally.
When I open this one, no corruption notices appear, but trying to save or do many things brings the wheel of death, and scrolling horizontally too fast will crash it.
Just a heads up.
Thanks!

Your drumset for this file only defines two notes. Seems you must have changed it somehow when changing to a five-line drum staff. All you should have needed to do with change the number of lines and the line spacing in Staff Properties; it appears you did something else.
BTW, you *can* get a three line staff if you want. Starting from the original score, if you go to Staff Properties, then Advanced Style Properties, disable "Show ledger lines". That hdies the ledger lines that are showing up inappropriately. You'd probably also want to go to Edit Drumset and fiddle with some of the line assignments too,.
If you aren't going to use ledger lines you can just disable them for the staff.
Right click an empty space in the 3 line staff.
Select 'Staff Properties...'
Go into advanced style properties and deselect show ledger lines.
Now there is no ledger line
