how can i tie into the coda?

You can't get it to play that way, but you can relate the effect visually either by using a slur instead of a tie and adjusting it to look right, or by using the small tie characters in the Text Symbol palette (F2 while entering text - so start by clicking he note and hitting ctrl-T to enter staff text). The characters are too small by default, but you can then double click the ext and increase the size using the text controls at the bottom of the screen.
