Creating two sets of connected triplets
Hi there,
I'm working on putting together my own study version of Leyenda based on how my teacher has put it together. The problem I am running into (I am a new user) is creating non traditional triplets. I've read through the topics but still haven't been able to recreate what I am looking for. I'm working in 3/4 time, and there are 6 sets of triplets. The eighth notes carry the melody. When I try to recreate a tuplet using 3/8, it diverts to 132nd notes. If I try 3/1, I end up with a rest for each set of triplets that I have to delete (and expands my measure and makes it look ridiculous). Clearly I am doing something wrong, and it's a theme throughout the piece.

I'm French so........look my "score" simply entry a rest of 1 time (click on 5) and ,on it, click CTRL + 6 ,you get a sextolet. For the eight notes you need to use VOICES. I enter the 2 eight notes in a new measure with VOICE 2, and after I copy the first measure (the 6 olets) and I paste on the second measure Sextolet.mscz

hey there :)
yes, i'm using voices, so that part i've figured out. the sextolet is not quite what i am looking for tho - the score divides them up into triplets themselves if you take a look at what i am after...likely because the eighth notes carry the melody so it's easier to read. for some reason when i am working with the next voice to input the triplets, i get a lot of weird rests and tied lines instead of musescore just creating sets of triplets. it's almost like it's creating a quadruplet. sorry, still not quite understanding how to create this particular notation...

First enter the eight notes in voice 2 (they must be green). For that, press N and then choose VOICE 2, press 4 for eight notes and enter the eight notes, they must be green. After click and the first rest (blue and 1 time) press on 4 you get 2 Half rests , in voice 1 , blue. Click the first ,click CTRL + 3, you get the first triolet with 3 half-rest, enter the 3 first notes. Do idem with the second half rest. You can also, only write the first 1/2 sextolet( only 1 eight note and only the first 3 notes of the 6olet) you copy IT , you select this first part of 6olet, it becomes bleu and you press R. It copy it, after you change the pitch. With R you copy just behind what you select, if it is a whole measure it copies it just after, fhen you change the notes.

hi there!
thanks for your help. i had to change this a little because i am in 3/4 time - for inputting the blue notes in voice 1, i inputted 6 eight note rests and then went back in and clicked on the individual rest to turn each on into a triplet. merci beaucoup pour m'aider!!!
The triplets are 3 sixteenth notes that take 1/2 of a beat, so choose eighth note duration and press Ctrl+3 to create the triplet. You can make a whole bunch of them by copy/paste, even press R to repeat the paste operation.
For the eighth notes (with stems down), use voice 2.
For the dotted half bass note, voice 4.

thanks for your help. i understand the different voices and what time each beat gets, but i kept getting a default of an extra rest and other funky auto correct stuff when i was inputting the triplets. from the instructions above, i inputted eight note rests and then went back in and changed them into triplets after the fact. that seemed to work :)

Additional hint:
Your score contains successive triplets.
So...
Once you have turned an eighth rest into a triplet, you can select the triplet (or even a full measure of triplets) and press R to propagate it across the staff.
Then you don't have to keep using Ctrl+3 each time you need a triplet.
Afterwards, simply overwrite all the triplet rests with note names.
