Crescendo Hairpins
Hi,
I have found that most of the dynamic and articulation marks I have added to my score are reflected in the playback, but the crescendo hairpins do not seem to result in actual crescendi during playback. Can anyone suggest what I can do to get the crescendi to play back?
Sincerely,
Neil

Most articulations do not affect playback yet. If you can code, feel free to help implement some of this. See development for more details (as well as non-coding ways to contribute).

I am still feeling my way through digital music composition, having now experience with Garageband, Musescore and Sebilius.
In Musescore playbacks I do not hear the effects of a hairpin or a slur (although I do hear the effect of a tie). So I saved the Musescore "test" file using a .mid extension and imported it into Garageband. As in Musescore, Garageband's playback didi not seem to sound these two articulations, and neither the hairpin nor slur notation appeared. I then downloaded a demo version of Sebilius and found that its playback also doesn't seem to register a slur or hairpin.
First question: In today's technology, is it correct to say that the only way to capture the effect of a slur or hairpin is by recording the playing of an instrument (e.g., piano) or a digital MIDI instrument? And in these two instances, music notation resulting from these music feeds (inputs in Musescore or Sebilius, for example) would not display a slur symbol or a hairpin symbol-right (unless subsequently entered manually)?
Second question: Is there any automated way (aot a person sitting at a piano playing Musescore-notated sheet music) to playback music notation from Musescore (or Sebilius or other music notation software) that will capture the sound changes anticipated by a slur or hairpin?
Thanks.
Alex
