Tablature for lute (and guitar?): Input mode

• Apr 8, 2016 - 15:21

For tablature normally there is only one voice which can have one or several notes at the same time. At least that is, how the flags/beams work (sign for note length in tab).

I have two thoughts on input mode (regarding tablature, but it is possible, that it could be also a useful mode for notation, at least if it can be set or unset):

1. It would be IMHO fine to have the input mode changed in the following way:
If there already are flags/beams, it would be good, if the note length would be automatically adjusted to the note lenght, that is already there - something like: add notes without changing the length of a note. If I would move the cursor through a piece, the note length always would change to the already used value.
This would make it easier to add other notes and speed up input.
And if one wants to input new notes, it is as always, as the note length then should have the last value.

2. Probably it would be good, if a change ot note length would work on the actual note without inputting a note (id est: same action as in normal, non-input mode). This would preserve all of the already input notes. I think this could also make sense in the input mode, at least for tablature.
