What should I call this composition

• Jun 3, 2011 - 01:48

I am only 13, I play violin and can read Bass and Alto Clef as well as Treble Clef. This is one of my first compositions made with MuseScore. Please tell me what you think. Also what should I call this Composition. At first I went with Staccato Tango and Legato Waltz but I didn't like as much so I decided to change it back to Untitled.
Please tell me if some notes can be very difficult for other instruments to play since i only know how to play Violin.

Names are so personal.

What I try to do is name it something that makes me want to remember it. It doesn't have to be accurate or descriptive, it just has to allow me to move on.

Good luck.

Couple of thoughts here ...

First, it sounds like you're "playing a group like a keyboard," or maybe just, "like a single instrument." They're all coming down (rather heavily) on the same notes, all of them staccato. Sometimes, when the sound seems to be "going up," one of the members seems to be "going down," in a sort of contrary-motion that stifles it.

I'd suggest taking the basic theme that you've got here ... which is good ... and just let the members of the group take turns at taking the lead, while each of them at different times plays in different ways. A legato phrase by two of them (but, not quite identical between the two) while the third has a contrasting part. Trills, short pauses, "all sorts of little variations," will really help make this piece come alive. Listen to other folks' compositions for groups like these and you'll see right away what I mean.

-Crossing the Valley

-The Awoken Giant

-Comeback

Those are just what came into my mind while listening to it. Great piece, anyway.
