Templates list empty (Ubuntu natty)

Hi,
I'm completely new to MuseScore, but it looks like it will be very useful.
I'm having trouble creating a new score from a template; I'm using MuseScore 1.1, on Ubuntu 11.04 (natty). In the wizard, when i click "Next" after selecting "Create new score from template", the templates list in the next screen is empty; actually, there's a little folder icon and a '/' at the top line, but that's it. There are 25 template files in /usr/share/mscore/templates, which seems to be where they should be, so it's a mystery to me why they aren't in the list. File permissions issue?
Anyway, any help would be most welcome.

I don't know why that should be. I have the same environment - MuseScore 1.1 on Ubuntu 11.04 and I see the correct list of templates - see attachment.
