Playback line doesn't always continue

In a score I had been creating, for the playback line would go like normal for the first couple of bars, but then it would halt, although the music continues, and then about ten bars later, it would would jump to where it ought to be, and repeat itself. I have four gigabytes of RAM, so it would not be likely it's the computer.
