playback sound
Hi, Is there some built-in way to alter playback sound? I'm using MuseScore 1.1 on an iMac. The sound I get now is vaguely choral, perhaps because I used the SATB template to set up a string quartet score...? I've poked around a little but haven't found any built-in library of different sounds... am I missing something obvious? Thanks, Ch.S.

Control over what sound is given to each stave is done by the Mixer Window, (Display>Mixer) Which gives you control over which MIDI voice is assigned to each stave.
You're right in assuming that the choral sound you are getting is due to choosing an SATB template.
Your choice of instruments will be saved in the score, so if you make your instrument selections you can then save your score as a template so you can use the same setup in the future.

Many thanks. Meanwhile, I found also: right click on a measure, choose staff properties... this gives, among other things, a "change instrument" option. Cheers, Ch.S.

As you may have experimented, "Change instrument" changes the sound, but also the name of the instrument, its transposition and ambitus. Using the mixer changes only the sound.
