Marching Percussion
Battery instruments for marching band users should be added. Instruments like marching snare, marching tenor drums, and marching bass drums should be added. Respective and realistic sounds for the instruments would also be appreciated. Also, I may just be stupid and not know how to, but I don't think there is an option to change the tempo when you try to play back what you wrote. Other than that, this is an amazing software in my opinion.

Along with the new instruments, new types of notes like triangles or fully hollow circles should be added instead of just and "x" and the traditional type. As far as tuplets, quarter-note triplets would also be appreciated.

Marching band instruments are available as an external download at https://sites.google.com/site/mhsbulldogdrumline/composition
Triangle are already possible and of course quarter notes tuplets are also possible. Read Tuplet .
What is an hollow circle? Can you attach a picture?
To set the tempo of your piece, use a tempo text. To change the tempo during the playback, use Display -> Play panel. See Tempo

You probably didn't install the soundfont. Check Display -> Synthesizer
