can't shorten initial barline (or extend one single barline)

In the example (http://musescore.org/sites/musescore.org/files/small_bar.jpg) you see that I can't shorten the first barline (1st question);
And I can't extend the second barline (ONLY the second) to arrive to the ossia-bar (2nd question).
Any advice?

(For the example I used General Style "Hide empty etaves", Staff properties "Small", and in Measure properties "Visible" only for ossia-bar.)
