Video Window and Jack Transport

• Dec 21, 2011 - 14:02

There has been some discussion about this previously, I don't know if developpers have consider this but I find it so useful that I insist again. Excuse me if I'm saying something wich has been said before.
The idea: to be able to write and play the written score in synchronisation with a video, and also with other music software, like audio and midi sequencers. I think the utility is self-explanatory.
How: instead of developping the "video window" inside musescore, I think there is a easier and better solution: jack transport. The audio server Jack provides this utility and although is 50% already working in musescore (only playback from the beginning of the score), a full integration will solve this, because the "video window" software already exists, Xjadeo.
Problems (that I can think of): Jack and Xjadeo work fine in linux. Jack works fine in OS X too, and I believe is available for Windows too, but I believe some work would be neccesary there. And for xjadeo, I think it can work on windows and OS X too, but I am not sure either. anyway, as both jack and xjadeo are free software, maybe someone can do the neccesary "tweaks". Worth trying, in my opinion.
