core dump after free(): invalid pointer: ...
Not entirely sure whether this problem originates in Musescore, Qt, a font rasterizer, or ALSA, but I'm getting a core dump after this message:
*** glibc detected *** mscore: free(): invalid pointer: 0x00000000014da900 ***
This is seen with 64-bit Musescore 1.0.1 on Mageia 1, with these Musescore packages installed:
musescore-1.0-1.mga1
musescore-fonts-1.0-1.mga1
musescore-doc-1.0-1.mga1
I'll try to attach a text file of the backtrace and memory map that was printed to the tty. I captured a core file, but the compressed file is 11MB, so I'll hold off attaching it unless instructed to do so.
This behavior was 100% repeatable for a given account. However, it did not appear to happen when using a different account. The reason I mentioned ALSA above is because the account with which this happens has a complex .asoundrc file, because that account is used on a thin/zero-client, and sound has to be routed from the server via an ALSA loopback soundcard and NetJACK2 to the client. In that account, sound quality was poor, so I tried to change I/O preferences to talk directly to JACK rather than ALSA, but Musescore blew up when I tried to restart it. (That .asoundrc file has Firefox, Flash, mplayer, and everything else I have tried, except Musescore, playing sound perfectly.)
Any suggestions? (... other than any major changes to the .asoundrc file. It doesn't do the musician any good to have her Musescore sound come out of speakers at the other end of the house.)
Thanks,

Let's see if the forum's web app will allow attaching the same file but renamed with ".txt" on the end. If it does, this file contains what was printed to the xterm that started Musescore. (I had to use X copy-and-paste to capture it, because the backtrace and memory map did not go to stdout or stderr.)
