1st time repeat 2nd time to coda

• Dec 1, 2016 - 11:54

Hello I would like to alter the bar properties for a bar of music.
Bar 9 has a starting volta
Bar 36 has the text "1st time continue 2nd time to coda with the coda sign."
Bar 72 is the end volta and
bar 73 is the Coda.

Is it possible for me to have Bar 36 ignore the to coda sign until bar 72 is played and then following on the 2nd time?

Thank you. Damien.

Is the volta necessary starting from Bar 9?
From what I gather your currently desired playback would be:
1-72
1-36
73

If that is the case, you wouldn't normally use a repeat marking and a volta, but a D.C. al coda marking at then end of bar 72, which will send you back to the beginning and make it take the coda at bar 36.

If this understanding is correct and you wish a sample score, just ask. Otherwise, please clarify your desired playback sequence.

D.S. al coda is then indeed what you would need.

Make sure to use the 'To Coda' text from the palet in m36, so MuseScore will pick up the meaning and perform the jump. You can double click on the To Coda text after it has been added to your score and edit the text of it to whatever you like.
