editing musescore in Microsoft publisher
I am trying to edit notation created using musescore and copy to microsoft publisher 2007 were I can create my own music book to publish for my students. Does not seem to work. Any ideas please?

It depends what you want to do... You could save MuseScore files in PNG. Go to File -> Save as and choose PNG. It will create one file per page. PNG files are images and Publisher should be able to import them.
