Note entry mode: append measures as necessary

• Jun 17, 2012 - 03:08

When I run out of measures during note entry, and I push a button that should add another note, current behavior of MuseScore is to do nothing. (Worse, if I hit a number pad key that would change rhythms for the next note, it actually changes the duration of the last note in this case.) Would be great if it would automatically append a measure when needed. As it is I end up appending 200+ measures just so I don't have to do an "append measure" command every time I get to a barline.

Note: I do not suggest you follow Finale's practice of always adding a measure as soon as the current one is full. This is quite annoying when you get to the end of the piece and it adds a measure of rest that you have to turn around and delete. Seems like the best behavior would be to act like a word processor in adding pages: no page added when you fill the current one, but if you enter text that would spill over, it makes a new page.
