New Piano etude 2012

• Aug 13, 2012 - 08:09

One of my new etudes for piano along with a faster one Im working on. If anyone knows how to get pizzicato or glissandi here please tell me. Im still working on fullarene and my violin concert recently started 2 diff piano concerti . Hearing Unsuk chin's and Berg's violin concerto daily has really inspired me with new patterns and styles. I encourage everyone here to listen to living composers like Boulez and Takemitsu(dead now) , Meredith Monk, Fujieda ,Stockhausen,Sciarrino ,Andrew Tovey and so many . What a great resouce muse is for all of us neophyte composers wanting to hear their work!

I don't wanna be rude, but why don't you make something that sounds...pleasant? I've seen a lot of your compositions and they all sound very discordant and dissonant.

play f and g together then play c dflat and f and g then a higher up f sharp . I love these sounds. I would like you to hear sounds together not as tones not within a chord. 9ths then 11ths then 13ths then pitches not in the same register. Hear a fith then simultaneosly the 4th inside. These harmonies when made part of the language of the ensuimg music is beautiful. My problem lies elsewhere. Sit down ata piano and play 11ths together with aug 4 and 5ths these r unique NEW SOUNDS sometimes. Debussy,Ravel ,Boulanger,Faure Stravinsky,Berg and Webern do it much better but hear them for all their beauty. Please- I would like to help someone else see the beauty of this dirty intervals not dirty but fibrous and charming.
My work is unpleasant when it is not totally simple in that it is not developed well and my craf is still too unknowing but my jewels r my haarmonies so far.
Music, film, photography - indeed any creative enterprise need not be PLeasANT. Enlarge your vision and hearing. Try Morton Feldman for 6 months and your life will have ascended . Listen to Brahms op.119 many times so u can see that harmonies coalesce, mirror, sink, interrogate etc. Life must be full not hindered by your or any other person's idea of pretty or pleasant. Like Nielsen said arent the sparks from swordplay a fine thing too . Let everything and all things vibrate being music. READ JOHN CAGE and CHARLES IVES!
