Unable to connect Yamaha MU128 tone generator to Musescore 1.2 via Jack 1.9.7 (Windows 7)

Hi there,

Help! ;-)

I am a new, not very techy, user of Musescore 1.2 on Windows 7. I have a sound module (as above) that I would like to use with the software. I found another forum post on here explaining how Jack could be used to achieve this - I followed all the instructions (v.1.9.7) but it has not worked. My tone generator is not showing any evidence of a midi input when I play the demo track in Musescore. It (the sound module) does appear to recognise that it's connected to a host (although this is the first time I have connected it to the new laptop I'm using and it is years and years since I last set up the tone generator with a PC so my memory is very vague. I did Google for a driver for the MU128 and installed a Yamaha CBX driver.)

I think the problem might be that there is no second writable client listed in the Jack Connections window - it is showing "system_midi", then only "playback_1" (which I have connected to with no success) - in the instructions it suggested connecting to "playback_2", I think.

I realise this is maybe not the right place to ask for advice, since the issue is probably between laptop/Jack/module rather than with Musescore, but my thinking is that you all here are probably the people with the right contextual experience of issues like this! Any advice gratefully received - but keep it nice and simple for me, please - thank you!

Cheers
Lynne
