Assistance with using an older MIDI Kybd
I have been using a PC to transcribe my lead sheets and considering using a very old roland (S50) MIDI. Does anyone have experience with using older MIDI keyboards and Musescore? I know there's a driver required between the kybd and PC (Roland has one listed on Amazon) but does not list whether it would be compatible with older kybds.

If it's an old keyboard, it probably doesn't have a USB port, and unless your PC is old too, or you have a pro sound card, your PC doesn't have MIDI plugs. So you will need a MIDI to USB adaptor. From there, it should be plug and play.

You're right, it doesn't but the PC does but no MIDI plugs. I have looked for MIDI interfacers and there are a few including one that Roland puts out 'UM-OE' Yamaha has one too UX 16. Thanks for tyour help.
A quick check of the manual at Roland's User Manual repository reveals that (as I thought) the S50 is only equipped with standard MIDI In Out and Thru.
This means that you will need to acquire a USB to MIDI interface. Hooking up to MuseScore should then be trouble free once drivers are installed.
I have a MIDISport 2x2 which talks to MuseScore without problem.
A quick check of Ebay reveals you can pick up one of these units for as little as £5.00 (UK pounds) plus postage.
