Positioning an Articulation

• Nov 1, 2012 - 08:59

Hello,

I'm trying to produce a cello training sheet. For some notes, it is required to add extra information concerning use of the bow: downbow and upbow. However, the MuseScore's proposed symbol for upbow is not exactly what I need. The more adequate symbol is "dmarcato" symbol.

If I try to apply "dmarcato" to a note, it is placed below the note, not above the staff, as "downbow" is. I also tried to change the anchor setting for the "dmarcato" symbol in Style / Edit General Style / Articulations&Ornaments to TopStaff, but that did not fix it, the symbol still is not high enough where it should be, where the "downbow" is.

I wanted to know if there is any way, perhaps some hack, how to position the "dmarcato" symbol at the same height where "downbow" is.

Make it Top Staff and then double click it and move it up with the up arrow of your keyboard. When done, select it, and copy paste it on the notes you need.

Great!

Thanks, I knew it must be something simple I have overlooked.

I also see that you can finely move it with up/down keys even without entering the edit mode, it's enough just to select it. When in edit mode (double-clicked), the up/down arrows give much coarser movement, but Ctrl+up/down gives medium distance. So, with three levels of movement control, it's more than enough! And with copy-paste, the propagation of successful placement to other notes, is a snap.
