I can't change the general style to create multiple measure rests.

I am writing a part and I am trying to create multiple measure rests, When I go to style and then edit general style and the click the box for create multi measure rests and then click apply, nothing happens. I was working on a different piece on a different computer last night and it worked fine, but that computer crashed so I'm using this one. I am attaching the file. Thanks :)
