Distance between staves in a system, when lyrics are added and moved above the top staf
When I add lyrics the distance between staves in a system automatically increases to compensate, however if I then select all the lyrics and move them above the top staff in the system the distance between the staves does not shrink again and I can not manually adjust it. This distance gets greater with each additional line of lyrics.

Yes, this is a limitation wrt lyrics. MS doesn't handle lyrics above the staff and moving them doesn't really change where MS thinks they are.
Works, but not elegant or quick.

On checking to see if this actually works I find that I haven't solved the issue of making the barlines invisible. Best I could come up with is making them all invisible and then manually adding in lines at the end - told you it was laborious.
