Missing File

• May 16, 2017 - 04:21

My laptop unexpectedly shut down while I was working on a score. On starting MuseScore again, I got the usual crash message, something like 'Musescore has closed unexpectedly. Restore last session?' I selected 'yes,' and continued working on the score, saving periodically. I finished the score, saved it, and closed MuseScore.

Turns out, I never used 'Save As,' and was continually overwriting . . . the autosave? However, as I look in the MuseScore's AppData folder (which is where I understand autosaves are), I can only find the original autosave, which has very little progress. (I can see Hidden Items). The file I was working on does not show up in the 'Open Recent' list.

I know I was saving all along the way, and definitely saved before closing MuseScore, but I have no idea where the file I worked on has gone. My best guess is that it was a temporary file, and was auto-deleted upon closing MuseScore . . . but it's not in the Recycle bin. Are temporary files permanently deleted?

Is there any hope I'll be able to recover my work?
