It may be understandable the "response" indicated with parentheses (measures 19/22)?

I'd use small notes instead of parentheses. And maybe the lyrics in italic.

Ok, I noticed that you've created extra 2/4 bars with invisible barlines. The proper way would be to write the four eighth notes in same bar as the main melody, but in voice 2. Voice 2 would start with a half rest, which you could make invisible. But even in that case I'd make the 2nd voice notes small and lyrics in italic. Or put the parentheses in the lyrics, but not in the notes.

For the appreciable opinion.
When I compile the scores for the choir I prefer the extended form (SATB and sometimes, organ).
Some would like everything on one page, and you try to please them. But I was not convinced and I have not completed the work (Solo / Choir Chorus 1 + 2) in that way.
Perhaps your advice works better (or put the annotations as properties harmony).
