upgrade to 1.3 from ubuntu Studio

The Ubuntu Studio distribution still comes with 1.2.
Now, 1.3 contains very useful bugfixes, and I would like to upgrade. However,
it seems that I cannot get it from Ubuntu Software Center (stuck with 1.2).

Is it a good idea to build it locally from the latest source code? Any experience with you folks?
