Lag in OS X 10.9

• Nov 2, 2013 - 00:12

I recently upgraded to OS X 10.9 on my MacBook Pro, and upgraded to Musescore 1.3 shortly afterwards. However, these two upgrades seem to have downgraded the prompt response the program had to commands. For example, I will enter a note and it will appear on the stave two seconds later, and play after three seconds. Also, scrolling seems to be affected as well. The scrolling lag seems to be proportional to the size of the score, and as a soundtrack writer, this is a major issue for me.

Why is it lagging?

I've tested it on two scores so far, one incredibly large one, and one absurdly small one. They both lagged, but the small one lagged slightly less than the large one. I wrote them both on the previous version of Musescore. From these polar opposites, I can assume that the effect would apply to all of my scores.

I've just tested that, I wrote a small piano score, it was fine. On opening the small score I tested yesterday, I found the lag was less than I thought it was. I also tested a medium-length score and the lag was almost as bad as the large one.

But even my longest scores never did anything like this before I updated to Mavericks. Why is it suddenly "normal" now?
