Is it a way to create a new FiguredBassItem in plugins ?

Is there to a way to create a new FiguredBassItem in plugins ?

Because apparently it is not (after looking at the code in Git -> element.cpp / element.h)
Indeed, it seems not possible through the common routine newElement(ElementType::FOO) ?
Then, if not, why ? and is there a trick to overcome this ? (in particular, to create multiple lines of figured bass, with a continued line, which property is defined in FiguredBassItem object)
