Reorchestrating Schubert's Unfinished

• Sep 24, 2017 - 10:54

There's nothing wrong with Schubert's orchestration of his unfinished symphony; he did a very good job in doing that. I just added a lot of instruments in this reorchestration, so I have to reassign some parts to other instruments so that the page doesn't look too overloaded with the same stuff on different staves, although it does look like that at the moment.

This is the orchestra i am using:
1 piccolo, 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 english horns, 2 clarinets, 2 basset horns, 2 bassoons, 1 contrabassoon
4 horns, 4 trumpets, 3 trombones, 1 tuba, timpani
violins I II, violas I II, cellos, double basses

I don't actually have an orchestra of that size at my disposal, or even any orchestra at all. I'm just doing this to learn how I can orchestrate for larger orchestras.

BTW I haven't finished this arrangement yet.
