Hi, I'm currently using musescore under Debian Linux 9 (stretch) with the following kernel: 4.9.0-4-rt-amd6. I'm not using a sound card and I'm just relying on the motherboard (which is a MSI PC mate H87) and I'm experiencing a crackling noise whenever I try to reproduce sheet music. I'm not an expert neither of musescore nor of music software in general, so I would like to ask you if you know how to fix this problem. I already experienced the same issue with a generic kernel (I had to change to the rt one in order to get rid of the lag I used to have with LMMS).

Ok this worked!. Thank you very much. The one I tested is already a(n unstable I think) version of MuseScore 3, but it's working fine with a concert band transcription from a Brahms choral prelude I'm doing just for fun.
The little work I did was done with the ordinary package offered as default by Debian, and kept on crashing on a constant basis... I hope this one works better!

Maybe it's a case of: #197131: Regression: Bass synthesizer and bass guitar create popping sounds ?
Try to test an AppImage of the nightly of MuseScore 2.2, (see Download page) if it happens there too.

2.2 should be quite stable, so I think don't worry to use it for daily use.
