Recovering a lost file

• Jun 1, 2018 - 06:50

Hello, is there any way to recover a file after accidentally clicking "discard" when it asks you whether or not you want to save you work when exiting out like a doofus? I looked around but I couldn't find the automatically saved file, and does it only save the most recently worked on score? Thank you.

I found other copies of the score I'm looking for that are the exact same as when I last saved it a few days ago, and I fear they may be the result of me frantically opening the previous file. Otherwise I have "MSCZ, file" type files that can't be opened on musescore that share the name of the score.

The .mscz, file can be opened after re-naming it.
See:
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/file-formats#msczcomma
Especially this part:
"The backup file adds a period to the beginning of the file name (.) and a comma (,) to the end (e.g. if your normal file is called "untitled.mscz", the backup copy will be ".untitled.mscz,"), and the period and comma need to be removed from the name in order to open the backup file in MuseScore."
