Trumpet Half Valve slur between notes simulation

• Jun 14, 2018 - 23:13

Many charts show a half valve trumpet Slur between notes using the Gliss symbol. They usually leave off the text (gliss) over the wiggly symbol. If one indicates this using the Gliss symbol in Musescore, the slur playback is close to a formal arpeggio sound (individual notes). Is there an add-on one could use to more closely simulate the haft valve sound. We would still like to show the wiggly gliss symbol (only without the text) on the chart.

How how is the add-on retrieved?

Comments

To finesse playback and eliminate the "formal arpeggio sound (individual notes)", try using a bend.
See:
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/bends

The attached example contains a hidden staff which actually plays the bend. The visible staff is for notation display and the notes are made silent in the Inspector.
The hidden staff can be seen by going to Edit -> Instruments where you can put a check mark in the 'Visible' box.
The 'gliss' text can be hidden in the Inspector by unchecking 'Show text'.
