Help with percussion notation on MuseScore

• Sep 30, 2018 - 15:39

There is a part for one (1) percussionist who will play the following:

3 toms
bass drum
snare drum
wood blocks 2
tambourine
cymbal suspended
triangle

in a set-up similar to that of Stravinsky's L'histoire du Soldat. I would like to be sure of the notation before I proceed. (My experience with percussion notation suggests to me something eerily similar to that of orthodontics.)
I'm sure I'd like the 3 toms on their own 5 (3 if possible) line staff, but would I want the remaining 6 instruments on another 5er or with several single lines as MS has initially provided. In other words, would an additional adjoining "drumset" 5 line staff be possible? Better?
Some reading has suggested to me that a percussionist might prefer ALL 9 instruments on one 5 line staff. Is this the common practice? Better?
