VIOLINIST help requested.
On the enclosed PDF passage:
Is the fingering awkward for this passage the likes of which will persist for a short while? Do you have to cross 1 and 2 fingers? Is it okay if not sustained?

I play violin...um, I guess sometimes what I've seen done is to actually play in half position rather than first position... so for the two notes utilizing first finger typically in first position, you would instead use first finger for the lower of the two notes but use second finger for the higher note that typically uses first finger. Then, you would use your third finger instead for the note that's typically played using the second finger in first position. This way you would still be able to play slurs without the trombone glissando effect...
if it wasn't slurred, however, I would probably just stick to first position playing the notes... but this is just my guess since I'm not a professional expert on violin, but I did take suzuki violin and completed at least the first five books in suzuki that includes songs with double stops (playing two notes at once)... yeah

Interesting. As a trombonist with 10 thumbs I could never figure the dexterity of violinists, especially in first position. I do try to be aware of bowing, but fingering is most difficult.
THANK YOU.
