Musical Terms

• Nov 6, 2018 - 21:12

Is there a way to create a palette listing commonly used musical terms, in italics, such as:

a tempo
ritardando, ritard., rit.
moderato
lento
legato
largo
"ect."

so they could be inserted in appropriate places in a score to save typing. The list of terms could be added or deleted and customized as other palettes. In the current version of musescore, I tried to create a palette described as Musical Terms and realized that items for cells had to be transfered the Master Palette. Is there a way to add a section to the Master Palette providing a common list of Musical Terms that could be inserted in the appropriate places of a music score? Is it possible for a user to custom add a section to the Master Palette providing terms he or she uses frequently? If not, would this be something to consider for a future update?

Thanks,

Richard ....

Most of these terms will be available by default with the next major version (you can test it with a nightly build of the the development version: https://musescore.org/en/download#Development-builds).

With the released version you can create a tempo text, editing the tempo and the text (https://musescore.org/en/handbook/tempo) and saving it inside a custom workspace (https://musescore.org/en/handbook/palettes-and-workspaces).

For ritardando (and maybe a tempo) there exist a plugin: https://musescore.org/de/project/tempochanges
