extending a loop during playback from midi or OSC

Is there a way to change and extend the loop-in and loop-out points without interrupting or changing the active playback?

I've been playing around with a midi controller, OSC and MS beta-3. I can find OSC commands and MS hot keys (configured [ and ] ) to control the loop point. But all I could find, is SHORTEN the loop range during playback, by setting the loop-in or loop-out point to the real-time playing position.
This is not really usefull for me.
Changing the loop seems to be possible using a combination of selection, move and loop commands, but these can be used only when playback is NOT active.

For practicing purposes, i would like to keep looping a section of, say, 8 measures, then, when I feel ready to move on, press a midi foot controller while playing, making MS pass on fluently into a next, adjacent, loop range (e.g. first setting the new end point, and when play has advanced into the new section, set the new loop-in point).

I haven't looked at plug-ins, but if this could be done in one, and it could be triggered during playback without taking my hand off the piano, it might be worth looking into it.

Thanks for any feedback.
