In a way inspired by Stravinsky's L'Histoire du Soldat in its pragmatic approach: written for instruments available. Stravinsky picked his instruments as representatives of the families. I had decided to pick one from each (pipe, reed, double reed, brass and string along with a percussionist). There the similarity ends (unfortunately). The piece is not intended to be derivative in any way, though there is obvious homage in the March Miniature (III).

As each of the 6 instrument groups represent different characters, so do each of the 6 movements. As the title suggests, I'd like to see a dancer/choreographer take a chance with it (or an animator).

The six movements are

Jeu de sons
Valse Triste
March Miniature
Scherzo (Ragtime)
Adagio
Coda
