Source for Recommended Range for High-School Players?
Apologies if this doesn't belong here, but I've been unable to find a source which lists "reasonable" ranges for high-schoolers to play in. Does anyone know of such a place?
I ask because I'd like to have some of my pieces played by my brother's HS band/orchestra, but not every note in the recommended range on MS is available to a HS-aged player.
I realize every instrumentalist is different--hence the "reasonable" in the question.

Playing ability varies so much. A good idea would be to look out pieces that were played by the HS players in years gone by and ask their music teacher/bandleader if any of the pieces posed problems or had to be modified in order to perform them.
Remenber that brass players in particular may be able to play a large range for a short while but will fatigue if asked to play high notes for long periods.
You may also have a few musicians who exceeded HS average ability well before HS so don't ignore them - they don't need or want easy pieces.
