Problems With Playback

Recently I've been having trouble with the playback options on MuseScore 3. When I open the program, the playback options are completely grayed-out. I've tried numerous things to fix this problem and have looked through many forum posts to find a solution, but nothing has worked. I've reverted MuseScore back to factory settings more than once, I've tried just closing and reopening MuseScore, I've tried restarting my computer, I've gone into the control panel to make sure that applications can take exclusive control over the headset I'm using, I've tried going to the I/O tab of the preferences tab to make sure that the output is going through my headset but I am unable to select anything in that tab, and I've even tried completely deleting MuseScore from my computer and re-downloading the application. On occasion, for some unknown reason, the playback buttons will work. but I am completely unable to make the audio go through the correct playback device. When this happens, no matter what, the sound will go through the TV I use as a monitor. I really hope there's some kind of solution to this problem because at this point I think I've tried everything.
