(MDL) Distinction between accents and taps in audio playback

• Jun 26, 2019 - 22:00

Currently there is no way to hear accents in audio playback. All that plays back is one sound from the snare drum voice for example.

I don't know why your example doesn't create any sound on my computer (seemingly no patch is assigned, may be you are using a soundfont I don't have installed), but if it is OK in your system, the way to get a better accent is to select the note to be accented (generally the first in a measure), go to the inspector at the right, look for the velocity offset and raise it by about 15 % at forte and 50 % at piano. With no indication, it is mf by default. If you want it even more realistic, use a tempo mark slightly below the general tempo for accented notes (it is called agogic accent). For instance if it the tempo is quarter note 120, try 116 or so. This is what human players usually do.
