Discussion of issue #101991

#101991: Menu mnemonics A-G create note in note input mode is a bug report that has gotten a bit of discussion recently and I think it needs more discussion.

Yesterday I ran into the bug for the first time I'm aware of. It showed itself in a different way than others have reported. I had the selection filter opened and probably the last thing I did was to recheck the All box so my selections would once again be complete and hid the selection filter. I then saved a score a included a couple of spaces in the name. When I continued working on a score I tried to select a measure and nothing happened. I looked at the selection filter and nothing was checked (which is one of the toggles for the All checkbox). I didn't realize at the time that this bug existed but it is clearly the same bug.
