How can I put a gliss on a specifc beat to a specific note?

I'm transcribing something at the moment but I can't seem to get the effect I would like. I'm trying to put a gliss on a half note on 2 (C5) that goes to a quarter note on beat 4 (A4) but I want the whole value on the half note and then the A4 to be heard at the end of the gliss. I've tried messing around with glisses and grace notes but none give me that slide whistle/trombone effect. Any help is appreciated.

A glissando currently always plays back in steps. See #127341: Add Glissando playback style portamento for the feature request to enable the playback you want.

If the interval you wish to slide is less than 3 and a half tones, you can use a pitch bend in another voice to achieve the smooth effect you want.
See for example m127 and m135 of https://musescore.com/jeetee/scores/2798821 for an example. Be sure to turn off playback of the notated way and make the slide notation invisible.

As for deciding when the gliss should be played, you can probably fiddle around in the Piano Roll Editor to change the timing of the rendered playback there.
