Automate Formatting for Tablature

• Dec 1, 2019 - 15:32

I have been using Musescore for about 18 months or so now, I love the things it can do for me, being a late comer to the playing of music (for physical therapy I am learning guitar, slowly and badly but hey, it is music to me and my dogs.) I almost exclusively use it to import midi files, I select the part from the midi file I want to convert to music I can play on a guitar and format it to have both standard notation and tablature in linked staves. I find I go through the same general steps every time after I select the melody line from the raw midi.

First I change instrument to guitar
2nd I add linked staff
3rd I changed linked staff to tablature common
4th I change octave to fit my instrument (move to tenor clef)
5th I make the file name the title for the piece
6th I change the staff properties for the guitar tab to a clearer font and resize (Bonneuil-Gaultier 16pt)

Anyhow, I think I have made the point that I do a Lot of repetitious steps. My question is, can the things I do every time be automated and applied to a score after I have imported a midi file.

Great Program whether it can do what I am hoping to do or not! I have learned so much about how music works just from digging in and playing with this program.

Thanks,
Michael

Not really. Another way would be to create a new score (with the default (or a custom) template guitar+tab), open the midi file, select all via "ctrl+a" or select all from a particular staff via "ctrl+shift+end" (after selecting the first note) and copy and paste it.
