How to add text to one arrangement of a score only

• Jan 9, 2020 - 16:53

I'm working on a concert score, so it has several parts (piano, violin, percussion, etc.)

I want to add a text box that has a unique value to ONLY the piano part. However, whenever I add something to the piano part, the text also appears on the violin part, percussion part, and the master score arrangement. How can I avoid that? For instance, when I try deleting the textbox from the violin page, it also deletes it from the piano page, even though I want it to stay on the piano page.

Thanks! And I'm working on MuseScore 3 on Mac OS.

For a short text e.g. "marcato" or whatever, add Stave text (rather than System text) to the piano part. As the names suggest, Stave text is associated with a particular stave (instrument), System text is associated with the whole system (all instruments).

Or if you want a lot of text (a whole paragraph perhaps), add a text frame. This will appear in all the parts but can be made invisible where you don't want to see it via the inspector: click on the text and untick [visible]
